UNESCO in Port-au-Prince provides support to the Ministries of Environment and National Education in Haiti, for the implementation of the Decree on the integration of Environmental Education (Éducation Relative à l’Environnement - ERE) in the education system.

This new theme will offer learners the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and values necessary to make informed decisions, adopt environmentally friendly behaviors and become active and responsible citizens.

Promoting the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) particularly of the ERE into formal education programs will bring about the personal and societal transformation needed to be resilient and adapt to an uncertain and complex future, while contributing actively and creatively to the well-being of people and the planet.

This support materializes within the framework of the project "Promoting adaptation and mitigation measures to climate change in school infrastructure in Haiti", financed by the "Adaptation Fund".
