During the colloquium on popular music in Haiti at Quisqueya University, Renan Hédouville, the Protector of Citizens paid tribute to the Tropicana Orchestra of Haiti for its 60 years of existence (Founded August 15, 1963).

Hédouville, guest of honor at this symposium, took the opportunity to congratulate the musicians of the Tropicana orchestra of Haiti for their contribution in the incessant fight for the respect of Rights and Freedoms, the fight against non-discrimination. The Protector since his arrival at the head of the OPC has always advocated a culture of respect for rights, and once again he demonstrated it through his speech of the day.

In the circumstances, he presented a Plaque of Honor and Merit to the members of the founding committee of the Tropicana Orchestra of Haiti, chaired by sociologist Antoine Augustin, for his commitment as an institution recognized as being of public utility in the promotion of Haitian art, culture and popular music here and abroad. "Tropic is our pride," concluded the Ombudsman.
