On this International Literacy Day (September 8, 2023), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) said it was proud to work with schools in the South and Grand Anse departments to support the improving the literacy and socio-emotional skills of 2nd grade students.

Before the implementation of the USAID-supported literacy program, 75% of students finishing grade 1 could not read a single word. Since the implementation of this program, 78% of students in the South departments and 72% in Grand'Anse have improved their reading by at least two levels.

USAID believes in building more inclusive, peaceful, just and sustainable societies.
