iciHaiti - Turks and Caicos Islands : Interception of 156 Haitian boat people

A dangerously overloaded boat carrying 156 Haitians in an irregular migratory situation (139 men and 17 women) was detected Friday September 15, 2023 by a United States Customs and Border plane, while it was heading illegally towards the Turks and Caicos.
The Turks and Caicos Islands Police maritime branch quickly intercepted the boat 8 miles off the coast southwest of West Caicos.
The boat was then towed to Port South Dock and the Haitians were handed over to agents of the Ministry of Immigration for the necessary processing with a view to their repatriation.
