iciHaiti - Canal Crisis : End of Mission for the OAS delegation in Haiti 06/11/2023 08:58:30
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the Haitian population in general and the farmers of the Lower Plain of Maribahoux in particular that a technical delegation from the Organization of American States (OAS) stayed in the country from October 30 to November 1st, 2023. Jean Michel Arrighi, Secretary of Legal Affairs of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Andrés Sánchez of the Secretariat for Integral Development came to learn and receive technical information on the ongoing construction of a canal irrigation in Haiti with water intake on the Massacre River on the one hand, and collect information on the area concerned and observe the situation linked to construction on the other hand. The delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Victor Généus upon its arrival in the country. She then met the ad hoc multidisciplinary Commission for the management of shared waters during the day of the 31st for everything relating to the object of her mission. The discussions took place in a serene atmosphere, marked by cordiality and mutual respect. The OAS delegation left the country on Wednesday, November 1, and promised to submit its report soon.
