It appears in part that these attacks are retaliation after the deaths of several members of the gang during exchanges of fire with the Haitian National Police (PNH), who benefited from the support of a vigilance brigade, which made it possible to prevent bandits from taking control of the city.

But beyond these reprisals, the "400 Mawozo" gang would seek to take control of the Ganthier customs post in order to impose their law on traders.
