Soldiers from the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFront) intercepted on December 24, 2023, a Haitian truck suspected of being loaded with goods bound for Haiti.

Taken to the CESFront military base, the soldiers discovered plantain bananas and rice banned from export under the authorized goods.

Let's remember that the Dominican Republic was hit by several atmospheric phenomena and to avoid shortages and price increases of certain products, the Government, through resolution 05-2023, suspension of the export of plantains and rice for all countries.

By questioning the Haitian merchants and driver, they recognized the smuggling which they tried to justify by explaining that it was to avoid the increase in the price of these products in Haiti. Cesfront seized the products banned from export and returned the truck and the authorized goods to the drivers and merchants.
