Friday December 29, 2023, heavily armed individuals opened fire on a minibus full of passengers who was trying to cross the RN1 at Carrefour-Paye (Artibonite Department).

According to testimonies, it was men from the "Gran-Grif" gang who operate in Savien in the commune of Petite Rivière-de-l’Artibonite who opened fire. At least 5 passengers were injured and transported to the emergency room of Saint-Nicolas hospital in Saint-Marc.

A unit of agents from the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO) aboard an armored vehicle quickly arrived in the area and opened fire on the attackers who ultimately preferred to flee...
