Following a notification of a sailboat taking on water, the watch crew from District 7 of the Coast Guard "Dependable" rescued at the beginning of the week 33 Haitians whose ship had started to take on water approximately 11 km away. north of Cap-Haïtien.

The 33 people were transported aboard the “Dependable” and transferred in good health to the Haitian authorities.

“The crew of the Dependable did an excellent job reacting quickly to the dangerous situation,” said Lt. j.g. Chelsea Chamberlain, a Coast Guard District 7 law enforcement officer. "People were actively bailing out water in rough seas and if our crew had not arrived in time, the ship would likely have foundered."
