iciHaiti - Security : First meeting of the Steering Committee of the PNH support program

Tuesday, January 30, 2024, the Prime Minister a.i., Ariel Henry opened the first meeting of the Steering Committee of the joint support program for the National Police of Haiti (PNH) better known under the name of “Basket Fund ". This Committee aims to provide direct assistance to the PNH with a view to its operational and institutional strengthening.

The technical and financial partners (Japan, Canada, Europe, USA, Germany, Italy, United Nations) members of the Committee were unanimous in favor of an extension of the Program for a period of 24 months, with a plan for updated work which will take into account possible rearrangements taking into account new priorities defined by the PNH.

The speakers stressed the need to continue supporting the PNH through the mobilization of funds, to increase the pace of implementation of planned activities and to adapt the program to urgent needs to help restore security on the entire territory.
