iciHaiti - Boat People : 30 Haitians intercepted near Fort Pierce Inlet
On Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office assisted the Coast Guard in arresting 30 Haitian migrants in an irregular migration situation aboard a vessel near Shark Island.

Agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (Air Marine Operations and Border Patrol) led the operation, alongside the U.S. Coast Guard and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. All migrants are in custody and pose no danger to the local community.

"Illegal aliens aren't just flooding across our southern borders, they're arriving all across South Florida beaches, including here in St Lucie County,” said St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson on his Facebook account.
