The Ministry of Tourism recently gave carte blanche to the Haitian Energy Institute (IHE) to present the assessment of energy needs with a view to developing solar equipment packages for companies in the tourism sector.

This activity, part of the Integrated Regions and Territorial Development Program in the South (RIAT-Sud), is a Ministry of Tourism project whose first phase of identifying tourism SMEs was launched in 2015, but discontinued.

By resuming this project, the Ministry intends to use this support to help operators in the sector revitalize their businesses in order to enable the relaunch of tourist activities in the South.

Note that the RIAT-SUD program supports sustainable tourism on the South Coast from the commune of Aquin to Port-à-Piment and is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
