iciHaiti - Health : Critical situation of hospitals

In a note, the members of the Association of Private Hospitals of Haiti, express their deep concern for the health of the population, emphasizing "The private and public hospitals of our country are currently facing a critical situation which hinders their ability to fill their primary mission is to provide quality care to the population."

"The widespread insecurity situation prevailing in the country has seriously hampered our operations. Our medical staff are experiencing enormous difficulty in traveling safely, thereby jeopardizing the continuity of care. Many hospitals have been victims of violent attack and vandalism, including the Hospital of the State University of Haiti, the Saint François Hospital in Sale and the DASH Hospital in Delmas 18. In addition, we facing severe shortages of essential medical inputs, fuel and oxygen, seriously compromising our ability to meet the urgent medical needs of our patients.

We are launching an urgent appeal to all institutions and organizations working in the field of health to make our urgent need for help heard with one voice. Together, we must seek the assistance of all the authorities concerned in order to facilitate the provision of medical care to all those whose medical condition requires immediate attention.

We firmly believe that by joining forces and advocating together, we will be able to overcome these challenges and ensure access to dignified health care for all Haitian citizens."
