iciHaiti - Gangs : The Petit Séminaire Collège Saint-Martial, vandalized, looted and partially burned

Tuesday April 2n, 2024, Father Raynold Joseph of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit wrote in a note "[...] Monday April 1st, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., armed bandits entered the grounds of the Petit Séminaire Collège Saint Martial [...]" located in the city center of Port-au-Prince, on Street Lamarre not far from Bel-Air.

For more than 6 hours the bandits looted, vandalized, stole and burned four cars, several others vandalized, the College administration burned, the Procure looted as well as the community residence and school premises : refrigerators, solar panels, batteries, inverters, water purification system, mattresses, computer and electronic equipment, etc... the institution's computer room was looted and ransacked by the attackers, the library vandalized... The estimate of the damage and the losses are very significant is not yet available.

According to Mgr. Max King Mésidor, four priests who were inside the school building were in shock but were able to escape safely.
