iciHaiti - Insecurity : The National Library attacked and looted

On Wednesday April 3rd, 2024, armed individuals stormed and looted the National Library of Haiti (BNE), reported Dangelo Neard Director General of the BNE who declared:
"I was told that the thugs are taking away the institution's furniture. They also destroyed the building's generator. I alerted the police for rapid intervention [...] We have rare documents, more than 200 years old, of heritage importance which risk being burned or damaged by bandits" adding "this attack represents a hard blow for Haitian thought..."
