iciHaiti - Humanitarian : Taiwan financially supports the «Kore Pèp» Program
Paul Harry Voltaire, the Director General of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) met last week with Ambassador Wen-Jiann KU of Taiwan (Republic of China) to discuss in particular the "Kore Pèp" Program intended to provide food assistance to vulnerable households across the national territory and which benefits from Taiwanese financial support following the signing of a partnership agreement.

During these discussions, Ambassador KU reiterated his firm desire to continue working alongside Haiti to provide vulnerable populations in these times of crisis with food aid in kind. In this sense, the realization of several operations of distribution of hot meals and food kits, in particular for the benefit of the internally displaced people of Port-au-Prince are expected as soon as possible.

There was also discussion of the desired assistance for the construction of social infrastructure to enable the State to guarantee access for all to education and health care in particular. On this point, Voltaire confirmed Haiti's desire to contribute, while emphasizing the recognized expertise of the FAES in the construction of public works, particularly in remote corners of the country.

With the support of Taiwan, the FAES will be able to continue to assist populations in situations of food insecurity, by providing them with dry rations or hot meals as part of the activities of the "Kore Pèp" social assistance program.
