iciHaiti - Cap-Haïtien : The toll of bad weather increases (Partial)

Following the torrential rains which fell on Cap-Haïtien for several days, 13 people lost their lives, including 12 in a landslide according to the partial report published Friday May 3rd by the National Emergency Operations Center (COUN)

The COUD report also indicates that the rains flooded 2,260 houses, damaged 28 others and three of them were completely destroyed.

The first assessments also revealed significant losses of livestock, washed away by the flooding of the Haut-Cap river, in the north.

These rains fell on Haiti following the passage of a trough over the Greater Antilles. On May 1st, the Haiti Hydrometeorological Unit launched an alert for floods and possible landslides for 8 departments (Center, North, South, Grand'Anse, Nippes, North-East, North-East).
