iciHaiti - Environment : Upcoming start of the CPT project «Metropolitan Konbit of Port-au-Prince»
Friday May 24, 2024, the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) had a second working session with the various public institutions including the town halls of the West department, the National Equipment Center (CNE) and the National Equipment Management Service. Solid Residues (SNGRS) around the "Metropolitan Konbit of Port-au-Prince" sanitation project which will mobilize more than a billion gourdes https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42378-haiti-environment-the-cpt-wants-to-spend-more-than-a-billion-gourdes-to-clean-the-streets.html

It is a question of doing everything possible to start this vast sanitation program for the capital and its surroundings, in anticipation of the next hurricane season which begins on June 1st, 2024.

This program will include :

1. Awareness raising and communication;
2. Repair of equipment;
3. Cleaning;
4. Cleaning of clutter and collection;
5. Deposit of charging sites.

Positive impacts of the project (at least) :

1. Protect the health of residents of the capital against the proliferation of microbes and disease-carrying rodents due to the accumulation of garbage on public roads.
2. Reduce the risks and prevent the disasters that could cause the next hurricane season, the arrival of which is expected in less than a month.
3. Promote the cleaning and beautification of the streets of the capital.
4. Create two 2,500 direct jobs and approximately 10,000 indirect jobs.
5. Create a political climate favorable to the takeover of public administration by the Transitional Government, the choice of Prime Minister of which is currently underway.

The Presidential Transitional Council says it is determined to do everything possible to significantly reduce the level of unsanitary conditions in which the population finds itself...
