Agronomist Volny Paultre explains that this suspension is caused by the growing insecurity which makes it impossible for inspectors from the Department of Agriculture to carry out pre-customs clearance inspections in factories where mangoes are processed. An essential step for the United States since the detection of fruit flies in mangoes from Haiti.
This suspension of mango exports represents between 15 and 20 million US dollars in annual losses for players in the mango sector from small producers to transporters, [losses to which are added around another 15 million dollars for exporters.
Let's remember that the mango season in Haiti began the third week of April and is expected to continue until the second week of September
