iciHaiti - Humanitarian : Organizations continue to support displaced people 18/06/2024 10:46:46
In May, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) provided 900 dignity kits to women and girls. It also deployed 8 mobile clinics providing sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence services and support. The UNFPA helpline offering psychosocial support received more than 160 calls in May. Humanitarian partners continue to sound the alarm about the deterioration of the situation in the southern regions of Haiti, which now hosts 268,000 displaced people. This represents an increase of 95% since March. Meanwhile, the health system continues to face serious challenges, crippled both by recent violence and years of lack of investment. Currently, only 20% of health establishments in Port-au-Prince are operating normally. This year's humanitarian response plan, which provides $674 million, is only 23% funded, or $156 million.
