iciHaiti - CERMICOL : Critical situation at the Minor Reintegration Center
"Taken with pity and compassion” the Association of Volunteers for the Reintegration of Detainees in Haiti (AVRED-Haiti) cannot turn a blind eye when the rights of detainees are trampled on at the Reintegration Center for Minors in Conflict with the Law (CERMICOL)

Designed to accommodate up to a hundred children, CERMICOL now houses no fewer than 337 inmates, including men, women and children of both sexes. An overpopulation which has led to a critical situation from a health point of view.

Being the only organization defending the rights of prisoners, the AVRED Prison Activities Commission has distributed more than 300 hygiene kits to prisoners.

The Association thanks the schoolchildren of the Lycée Oracius L'aventure and the Lycée National de Pétion-ville and all the other schools in the capital for their contributions. A special thank you also to the Étincelle agency which accompanied the Avredists to the Center, its light brought a spark of joy to the faces of the detainees.

AVRED-HAÏTI renews its commitment to reduce juvenile delinquency, support prisoners during the period of their incarceration and provide them with post-prison assistance.
