iciHaiti - Politic : Installation of the New DG of Agriculture
On Monday, July 29, 2024, Vernet Joseph, the Minister of Agriculture, proceeded during a short ceremony to install agricultural engineer Elancié Moïse as the new Director General of the Ministry. He replaces Dr. Branly Eugène who had held this position for more than seven years.

After the usual thanks, Elancié Moïse, a seasoned executive of the Ministry who has held important positions within the Ministry over the past 20 years, declared that the country had made an irrational choice with regard to agriculture. "Because of this choice, the country has not been able to produce enough to meet the needs of the population. We are going to rethink agriculture today. We must move away from traditional agriculture to embrace modern agriculture. We need a solid agriculture where resources will be efficiently valued so that the production of goods and services is sufficient to meet the daily needs of the actors of the agricultural system."

In terms of announced projects, the new DG promised to contribute to the Ministry focusing particularly on areas where there are irrigation systems, stating "Without watershed protection measures, there will be no development of water resources," stressing that agricultural campaigns will be oriented particularly where water is available for irrigating fields.

Minister Vernet Joseph presented the new Director General as a man of principle, rigor and intransigence. He invited the latter to multiply himself to meet the challenges that await him...
