On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the new Commander General of the Dominican Army, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, inspected the border area between the Dominican Republic and Haiti with the aim of ensuring the readiness of the soldiers who serve in each of the posts and detachments and to let them know that they must remain firm and determined with the support of the high authority of the Army and the Ministry of Defense.

The Army High Command, when asked about the Pedernales tour, stated that its objective was to meet with soldiers and officers from the different posts located on the border strip. This part of the border has remained calm so far, with close surveillance by the Army, CesFront and intelligence services.

Iván Camino Pérez, visited the border area in Dajabón. During his visit to the northern border of the country, the military high command stated that he was visiting all the crossing points in order to personally know the surveillance and security measures applied throughout the perimeter.

Major General Iván Pérez stressed that the situation in Haiti requires that the entire security apparatus be used to monitor the situation on the border line. "The Dominican Army guarantees the guard, the protection of the border, there is no doubt, the Army has a level of efficiency and operability that it has not had in the last 30 years."
