iciHaiti - Dom. Rep. : Major mobilization to welcome thousands of deportees
On Wednesday, October 17, the Government Council approved a resolution that condemns the discrimination and mistreatment of our compatriots while the Dominican Republic repatriates them.

"Several Ministries and local authorities are deploying more means and resources to welcome the deportees with dignity and respect," said Prime Minister Garry Conille.

The process of welcoming Haitians deported and repatriated from the Dominican Republic mobilizes more than 10 public institutions in Haiti to facilitate the reception of returnees, among others: Town Halls, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Health, Directorate of Immigration and Emigration, National Office of Migration, Institute of Social Welfare and Research, National Identification Office, General Directorate of Civil Protection and National Archives...

Between October 5 and 15, 2024, 12,550 Haitians deported from the Dominican Republic were registered in Haiti :

Ouanaminthe 43% or 5,393 people (963 women, 347 children, 4,083 men);
Belladère 49% or 6,172 people (825 women, 96 children, 5,121 men);
Anse-à-Pitres 8% or 985 people (135 women, 37 children, 813 men).

The National Migration Office welcomed 262 migrants who decided to return to Haiti voluntarily.
