iciHaiti - Insecurity : The UN Secretary General alarmed
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed alarm over the escalation of violence in Haiti, where armed gangs are reportedly gaining ground in the capital Port-au-Prince.

"He strongly supports efforts by the Haitian National Police, with the backing of the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission to address the mounting violence," his spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters.

"The Secretary-General reiterates his pressing call to ensure that the MSS mission receives the financial and logistical support it needs to successfully implement its mandate." He also stressed "the importance of urgent progress in the political transition." The Multinational Mission, which began deployment in June 2024 and is led by Kenya.
