iciHaiti - Dom. Rep. : 333 illegal Haitians arrested in less than 24 hours

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported having arrested 333 Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory situation during control operations carried out on Saturday, November 30, 2024 in El Seibo including Miches where 154 Haitians were arrested (110 men and 44 women) and near the communities of Verón, Bávaro and Friusa, of Higüey, in the Province of La Altagracia where 179 Haitians were arrested (all men).
The operations were carried out by DGM agents led by Frigate Captain Wander Peña Matos and Colonel Sergio Richiez Pérez, with the participation of the military, the Dominican National Police, the Public Ministry and the Task Force "Ciudad Tranquila - Quiet City" (CIUTRAN), a Joint Task Force composed of members of the Dominican Army, Navy and Air Force, created in 2006 to support the actions of the National Police in its fight against crime.
According to a statement from the DGM, the Haitians were transferred to the Immigration Interdiction Center located in Benedito, to the Immigration Interdiction Center located in Benerito, in La Altagracia and to the Haina Immigrant Reception Center in San Cristóbal.
