iciHaiti - Dominican Republic : More than 500,000 Haitians expelled in 2 years
As of December 1st, Dominican authorities have expelled 71,124 Haitians since President Abinader announced the policy of mass expulsions on October 2, 2024 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43334-haiti-flash-repatriation-of-10-000-haitians-per-week-the-great-hunt-has-begun-in-the-dominican-rep.html with the aim of deporting and repatriating up to 10,000 Haitians in an irregular migratory situation per week. Since October 2nd, on average each week, 8,890 illegal Haitians have been returned to Haiti.

According to statistics provided by the Directorate General of Migration (DGM), a total of 253,328 Haitians have returned to Haiti so far this year, compared to 251,018 for the year 2023, or more than half a million illegals over 2 years.

On December 1st, the Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, announced the creation of a specialized immigration unit, focused on strengthening border surveillance and national security.

In addition, a court in Pedernales sentenced two men involved in the trafficking of Haitian migrants to 5 years in prison. The accused are José Manuel Pérez Rodríguez and Yeison López, convicted of illegally transporting four Haitians in a truck.
