Friday, December 13, 2024 Duckenson Lorthe BLEMA, the Minister of Public Health, during a meeting with the health authorities of the North Department, announced his decision to open a Blood Transfusion Center to meet a pressing need of capital importance.

This decision will make it possible to resolve, on the one hand, the problem of difficult transport to Port-au-Prince and, on the other hand, reduce the delays in transmitting results to the department.

The availability of blood is vital for both patients and the health system as a whole. Blood is essential during childbirth, surgical procedures, trauma (road accidents, etc...), treatment of chronic diseases (sickle cell anemia or leukemia/cancers), disaster responses, among others...

An identical measure will also be effective soon for the Great South.
