The Electricité d’Haïti (EDH) informs the general public and its subscribers in particular that the arrangements that have been made to supply electricity to the various provincial cities have been disrupted due to the boat accident that occurred on the night of December 22 to 23, 2024 at the Varreux Terminal https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-43922-icihaiti-varreux-capsizing-of-the-maelys-ii-boat-the-explanations.html which caused the temporary suspension of all cabotage activities, while our various suppliers use the sea route to transport fuel and lubricants to the North and South of the country.

The Government had disbursed 200 million Gourdes to EDH in order to facilitate this operation during the end-of-year celebrations.

Unfortunately, the provincial cities experienced a Christmas night without electricity despite the deployment of major technical efforts and the mobilization of the necessary funds.

However, EDH would like to point out that its suppliers are hard at work looking for alternatives to unblock the situation for the benefit of the provincial cities.

EDH reiterates to the subscribers of the various provincial cities its willingness to resume service as soon as possible once its suppliers can supply our various stations with fuel, lubricant and other accessories.
