iciHaiti - NOTICE : Cancellation of the 2025 National Carnival

Faced with growing opposition expressed by several sectors of national life, including the business and educational sectors, the Government preferred to cancel the National Carnival which was to take place in Fort-Liberté, in the North-East department, on March 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2025.

Patrick Delatour, the Minister of Culture officially informs that, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, in agreement with the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), the organization of the national carnival for this year is canceled.

However, the Ministry of Culture specifies that municipal authorities and local civil society organizations remain free, according to their respective assessments, to organize their own festivities to highlight the wealth and cultural specificities of their area.

For its part, the CPT specifies that the organization of regional carnivals in the Haitian popular tradition remains authorized. "The Government is actively working to support viable alternatives to support the cultural sector and allow our talents to continue to express themselves while promoting our heritage."
