iciHaiti - Environment : The Town Hall of Port-au-Prince will launch a canal cleaning project
As part of preparations for the 2025 hurricane season, which begins on June 1st, 2025, Ralph Youri Chevry, Mayor of Port-au-Prince, announced the imminent launch of a project to clean and clear the city's drainage canals.

This initiative aims to limit flood risks and strengthen the capital's resilience to severe weather.

This project involves interventions in several strategic areas to clear canals blocked by debris and improve stormwater runoff.

Aware of the challenges associated with major natural hazards, the City Hall is adopting a proactive approach to risk management and resident protection. This initiative is supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
