On Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, Leslie Théogène, Departmental Director of Commerce and Industry for Northeast Haiti, announced that preparations are underway for the installation of a new gate on the border bridge separating the Haitian province of Ouanaminthe from Dajabón. Leslie Théogène indicated that he had held talks with Luma Demetri, the mayor of Ouanaminthe, to expedite the process. "The goal is to ensure that this gate becomes a reality in the coming days," he said.

Emphasizing that this gate will improve control of trade and transit between Haiti and the Dominican Republic and "strengthen security and organization in the border area."
