On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and President of the National Police High Council (CSPN), learned with "deep emotion" of the death in combat of Officer Garry Lyma (30th Class), "a heroic member of the Anti-Gang Tactical Unit (UTAG)," during an intense confrontation with heavily armed bandits from the "Viv Ansanm" criminal gang coalition at Carrefour Péligre (Mirebalais).

"At this painful moment, the Prime Minister's Office pays solemn tribute to this defender of public order, who fell a hero for the safety of his fellow citizens.

On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister offers his deepest condolences to Officer Lyma's family, to his comrades-in-arms at the UTAG, and to the police force as a whole. He salutes the sacrifice, bravery, and selflessness of this peacekeeper, whose dedication will remain etched in the national memory."
