iciHaiti - FLASH : Security alert, risk of widespread demonstrations

In a note, the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince announced that due to widespread protests, with a risk of violence between police, demonstrators, and armed gangs, informs that all visa appointments and citizen services at the U.S. Embassy scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2025, have been postponed. The Embassy will operate with limited operations.

Advice and precautions for U.S. citizens :

• Avoid crowds;

• Exercise extreme caution in areas where you are not known to local residents;

• Monitor local media for the latest news and avoid areas where violence, protests, or disturbances are reported;

• Maintain a low profile;

• Be aware of your surroundings;

• Prepare to remain indoors for an extended period;

• Avoid going out after dark;

• Remain vigilant in areas frequented by foreign visitors. • Do not travel to Haiti.

• Leave Haiti as soon as possible when commercial options are available if you feel safe.
