iciHaiti - Dom. Republic : Dominican exports to increase by 45.2% in the first quarter of 2025
In the first quarter of 2025, exports to Haiti increased by 45.2% compared to the same period in 2024, totaling US$275.8 million, an increase of US$85.9 million. 1,129 products were exported by 401 exporters located in 17 provinces of the Dominican Republic.

Biviana Riveiro Disla, Executive Director of the country's Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana), stated that Haiti is a highly relevant market because it is the Dominican Republic's primary natural market, just as the United States is for Mexico. In other words, this territorial proximity means that Dominican authorities are giving it the attention it deserves.

"Markets are not static, and the reality is that Haiti, from a political perspective, is not going through its best times. Many conflicts and governance issues impact national and international markets."

She stated that companies producing in the Dominican Republic for Haiti and other markets can nevertheless count on government support to identify new business opportunities and diversify their markets.

Riveiro recalled that Haiti had established restrictions on the entry of products through the land border https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44564-haiti-flash-haiti-takes-strong-measures-at-its-land-borders.html , but that this measure applied only to foreign products transiting through the Dominican Republic to enter the Haitian market. However, it did not affect local Dominican producers.
