iciHaiti - Scam : Arrest in the DR of a Haitian, fake Brazilian consul

Dominican police officers attached to the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) arrested Dieuseul Siac (44), a Haitian citizen accused of posing as a Brazilian consul. He promised his compatriots visas to Brazil in exchange for payments ranging from US$1,000 to US$2,000.

He was arrested while suspiciously driving a black Toyota Vitz on Mexico Street, Altagracia corner, San Carlos sector, National District.

During a search, officers found US$737, a passport in his name and two cell phones, three identity cards he was using as cover, various personal documents, and 13 passports belonging to various Haitian citizens who were victims of this scammer.

The case was referred to the Department of Human Trafficking and Smuggling for further investigation and the prosecution of the accused.
