iciHaiti - RINDHCA Congress : The Citizen Protector in Panama

Jean Wilner Morin, Ombudsman, is currently participating in the congress of the Network of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in the Americas (RINDHCA - Red de Instituciones Nacionales para la Promotion y Protection de los Derechos Humanos del Continente Americano) under the theme "The Rights of Persons with Disabilities."

This event, taking place in Panama on April 29 and 30, 2025, welcomes all the leaders of national human rights institutions in the Americas. The Ombudsman will take this opportunity to raise, both in the Assembly and in bilateral meetings, the situation of displaced persons in Haiti and that of compatriots suffering inhuman and degrading treatment in the Dominican Republic, while asking the various representatives of national human rights institutions present at this General Assembly to intervene with their respective governments to ensure respect for the rights of migrants, in accordance with universal human rights principles and the United Nations International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

It should be noted that RINDHCA is a regional organization, a member of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).

This organization brings together the offices of the American Ombudsman, established in accordance with the Paris Principles, with the aim of cooperating directly with GANHRI and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
