The IHDO and SHONC are once again taking this opportunity to raise awareness about the devastating effects of breast and cervical cancer in Haitian women and prostate cancer in men. • Every woman who is sexually active should have a Pap test every year to prevent or detect cervical cancer early. • Every woman aged 20 and over should perform a breast self-examination every month, one week after her period. • Every woman aged 40 or older should have a monthly self-examination, a breast medical checkup, and a mammogram of both breasts (every two years) to detect breast cancer early. • Every man aged 50 or older should have a PSA (blood test) every year to detect prostate cancer early.
