iciHaiti - Politic : Inauguration of a new DIE Center in Pétion-ville

The Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE), in the presence of Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé, Minister of the Interior, and Pierre Canisius Guignar, Director General of the Ministry, inaugurated this week its new, fully renovated Center, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, at Place Saint-Pierre in Pétion-ville.

This new space offers a high standard of accessibility, as well as the quality and diversity of services available.

This inauguration was also an opportunity for the DIE to host an Open House, allowing users to tour the new physical infrastructure and test the quality of the services offered, in a larger, better-adapted space equipped with high-end equipment.

This new Center has the capacity to quickly serve more applicants, either directly or through travel agencies. It offers services for the personalization of passport books and residence permits, as well as adoption services, foreign nationality screening, complaints processing, and lost passport services—all functions initially available only at the Central Office in Lalue.

This inauguration also allowed the DIE to demonstrate its capabilities to dozens of taxpayers who attended. Passport applications were processed and issued in just a few hours. Of the 57 requests submitted, 51 passports were issued, and taxpayers were able to leave with their travel documents. Only six applications were denied service due to invalid or non-compliant documents.

The DIE's objective, among other things, is to enhance its image in the eyes of the population it serves. It also aims to inform users of the growing capabilities of this Ministry's technical department to provide better services to the public in a timely, respectful, and efficient manner.

The concept of this new DIE Center will be replicated gradually throughout the country and abroad, said Jean Antoine Simon Fenelon, Director of the Institution and main organizer of this event.
