On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Raphaël Hosty, the Minister of Public Works, proceeded in the reception room of the Antoine Simon International Airport in Les Cayes, at the official launch of the studies and the development of the Master Plan for this airport infrastructure.

This initiative, led by the Departmental Transport and Connectivity Program and financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), represents a strategic step in the modernization of the country's airport infrastructure. Its objective is to provide the Grand Sud region with a modern airport platform that meets international standards, in order to support regional economic development, strengthen tourism attractiveness, and improve Haiti's internal and external connectivity.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including the Mayor of Les Cayes, the Departmental Delegate for the South, the Director General of the National Airport Authority (AAN), representatives from the National Civil Aviation Office (OFNAC), the Chamber of Commerce of the South, the Execution Agency of the Ministry of Public Works, and the French firm Artelia Group & Génie Conseils, which was responsible for conducting the studies. Minister Raphaël Hosty closed the event by emphasizing the importance of this project for the economic recovery of the South region.

This project opens the way to new investment opportunities and job creation, thus contributing to the region's economic dynamism.
