Jean Robert Estimé, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti (February 1982 to December 1985), died on Friday, May 23, 2025, in Florida at the age of 84.

He also served as Minister Delegate for Finance and Economic Affairs, as well as Haiti's Ambassador to France.

In a note of condolence, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Bocchit Edmond paid tribute to the memory of a "[...] prominent figure in Haitian diplomacy, Ambassador Estimé served his country with integrity and determination at crucial moments in its history. His steadfast commitment to dialogue, international cooperation, and national sovereignty left a lasting mark on institutions and in people's memories.

I salute the memory of a man of conviction, whose career commands respect and whose legacy inspires." In this painful circumstance, I extend my most sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those in Haiti and beyond who were touched by his actions and vision.

May the soul of Chancellor Jean Robert Estimé rest in peace.

Reacting to this death, Haitian Chancellor Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste stated, "Minister of Foreign Affairs Harvel Jean-Baptiste expresses his sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of former Chancellor Jean Robert Estimé, a distinguished diplomatic figure.
