58,641 Haitians voluntarily left the Dominican Republic (due to migratory pressure) in the first five months of 2025, according to the Directorate General of Migration (DGM).

The Haitian Embassy in the Dominican Republic also announced that the latest group of volunteers to leave for Haiti consisted of 600 people, including about fifty entire families.

11 buses departing from : Verón-Punta Cana, Higüey, and La Romana. The 50 families were carrying household goods and utensils in four trailers.

According to the Haitian Embassy in Santo Domingo, the caravan split into three, heading towards the main border crossings with Haiti : Dajabón, Pedernales, and Elías Piña.
