3,826 employees of a dysfunctional Parliament, which has been inactive for several years now, have already cost the Treasury more than 10 billion Gourdes in salaries by doing nothing.

In the budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Parliament has a budget of 3.4 billion Gourdes (Senate and Lower House) to cover their salaries !

The March 2025 pay of the 3,826 employees of the dysfunctional Parliament, evicted from its premises during the bicentennial, amounted to more than 172 million Gourdes. The Ministry of Finance, which issues the checks, specifies that 1,469 Senate employees received 73,879,300 Gourdes and 2,357 employees of the Chamber of Deputies, without a deputy, received 99,102,300 Gourdes.

The Ministry of Finance is well aware that these employees are paid to do nothing, but it emphasizes that it has no authority to dismiss parliamentary employees who provide no service to the State. According to our information, this is a known situation that has been discussed at several meetings, but it appears that there is no will to resolve this deplorable situation for unknown reasons.
