The Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (UEH) informs the general public, and the university community in particular, that Dr. Louis Rodrigue Thomas has been appointed the new Secretary General of the UEH. His selection, made after a careful review of the applications received, was validated by the Executive Council and ratified by the University Council.

Professor Thomas was officially installed in his position on June 3, 2025, by Rector Dieuseul Prédélus during a ceremony held at the Rectorate in the presence of the Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Jacques Blaise, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Predner Duvivier, members of the UEH Council, management and staff of the Rectorate, representatives of the École Normale Supérieure, management and staff of the Rectorate, and family and friends of Professor Louis Rodrigue Thomas.

The Rector Prédélus emphasized the challenges that await the new Secretary General of the UEH. He also stated, "This is a very important position for our university." Adding, "The Secretary General is the highest official of the UEH, the Keeper of the Seals of the institution, the manager of the archives."

For his part, the new Secretary General expressed his awareness of the heavy responsibilities that come with his new position. Among the tasks awaiting him, he ranked the protection of the UEH archives among the most urgent. He emphasized the need to protect the institution's archives at a time when all of the UEH's decentralized entities and departments are seriously affected by insecurity.

Describing himself as the son of the UEH, Dr. Thomas promised to do everything possible to succeed in the mission entrusted to him.

Before becoming Secretary General of the UEH, Professor Louis Rodrigue Thomas was Head of Master's Programs at the UEH's Postgraduate Studies Department (DEP). After studying philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure, he continued his studies in France at the University of Paris X-Nanterre in Paris, where he earned a PhD in Philosophy and a Postgraduate Diploma (DEA) in Sociology. He has coordinated various study and research programs at the UEH, notably at the École Normale Supérieure. Since 2010, he has taught at several UEH entities, including the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), the Faculty of Ethnology, and IERAH/ISERSS.
