iciHaiti - Communication : Celebration of Latin American Press Day
On Friday, June 6, 2025, Haitian National Radio and Television (RTNH) celebrated Latin American Press Day, with the theme "Media and the Culture of Peace" in collaboration with the Presidential Restructuring Commission and with the participation of UNESCO.

In her speech, Ms. Sandra Duvivier, President of the Restructuring Commission https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44281-haiti-news-zapping.html , called for commitment, hope, and unity to revitalize this media outlet across the country:

"The transformation of RTNH is not the work of a small group; it is a national affair. Access to quality information must be our priority, in a space where all voices can be expressed with mutual respect."

Eric Voli Bi, UNESCO Resident Representative in Haiti, emphasized, "In this electoral context and this period of transition, it is crucial to address the specific role of public service media, which have a fundamental ethical and civic duty : to guarantee every citizen free access to quality, verified, balanced, and impartial information."

Lesly Voltaire, Presidential Transition Advisor, stated, "We have a collective problem, but not yet a collective solution, while we must all work to free Haiti from the situation of isolation in which it has been placed. These are walls that only collective action can break down. The media are essential players in paving the way."

Several workshops were organized following the official ceremony, focusing on key questions :

• What is the role of public media in promoting a culture of peace ?
• What role do journalists and press professionals play ?
• How can the media encourage coexistence and a culture of non-violence ?
