Haiti - Dominican Republic : Launch of an additional 13 km of border wall in Dajabón
On Friday, June 20, 2025, the Ministers of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, and of Defense, Carlos Fernández Onofre, along with Governor Severina Gil, launched the construction of 13 kilometers of the second phase of the border wall in the province of Dajabón, from the point known as La Sal (Pyramid 21) to El Salto de la Paloma (Pyramid 39).

Minister Carlos Fernández Onofre stated, "This project is of great strategic importance. The northern part of the border is and has always been the most open area of our entire border; it is therefore the most vulnerable to illicit activities committed along the border. This project will guarantee patrols from Manzanillo to Capotillo, representing approximately 38 kilometers of perimeter fence by road. This will ensure surveillance from selected towers and critical points, in addition to all the technology currently being tested and soon to be installed."

The plan is to install four watchtowers, access gates, bridges, and a 13-foot-high structure consisting of a 1.5-meter reinforced concrete base, topped with a 1.8-meter cyclone mesh, and crowned by an accordion of razor wire.

It should be added that, in addition to the presence of military personnel, this smart fence will feature a state-of-the-art surveillance system, including radar, motion detectors, high-definition cameras with night vision and infrared, as well as a squadron of surveillance drones.
