iciHaiti - Politic : Meeting between the Haitian Chancellor and the United States Deputy Secretary of State
On Friday, June 27, 2025, on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) held in Saint John's, Antigua and Barbuda, Jean-Victor Harvel Jean Baptiste held an important working meeting with Christopher Landau, the United States Deputy Secretary of State.

The Haitian Chancellor took the opportunity to make a passionate plea regarding Haitians facing difficult migration situations in the United States.

The discussions also covered several other major points, including :

• The removal of Haiti from the list of countries whose nationals are prohibited from entering the United States https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45056-haiti-flash-trump-bans-haitians-from-entering-the-usa.html

• The negative humanitarian impact of the cessation of USAID programs in Haiti;

• Combating the illicit trafficking of arms and ammunition into Haiti from the United States;

• Urgent support to the PNH in terms of specialized training, equipment, weapons, and ammunition to combat armed gangs;

• Strengthening the technical and operational capacities of the Kenyan-led Multinational Mission and the Haitian security forces;

• Conducting the constitutional referendum and organizing the next general elections in Haiti.
