iciHaiti - Training : Empowering Women Leaders in Displaced Persons Camps
As part of a series of awareness-raising and prevention activities conducted in the IDP camps in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, Bertrand Sinal, Minister of Public Health, organized a training session for a group of young women leaders working in 12 IDP camps. This initiative aimed to strengthen their key role in combating certain diseases, improving hygiene, and mobilizing communities.

This training will enable them, among other things, to better participate in prevention and awareness-raising campaigns, actively participate in the development and implementation of interventions tailored to their communities, and identify and report hygiene, sanitation, and health problems to the Ministry for necessary follow-up.

Training topics include :

- Handwashing, one of the best ways to combat cholera and other waterborne diseases;
- Access to water and its treatment, to ensure access to safe drinking water;
- Women's leadership and community engagement, for greater participation of women in health decisions;
- How to prevent and manage infectious and chronic diseases in difficult environments.

It is important to remember that women play a central role in the health of their families and communities. By training them, the Ministry ensures that prevention messages reach a wide audience, while strengthening their autonomy and capacity for action.
