iciHaiti - Taiwan : Strengthening 69 years of friendship and cooperation

On Monday, July 7, 2025, Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, Haiti's Minister of Foreign Affairs, arrived in Taiwan at the head of a five-member delegation for an official visit that will continue until July 11.

The delegation was welcomed at Taoyuan International Airport by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi. During his stay, Minister Jean-Baptiste will meet with President Lai Ching-te and his counterpart Lin Chia-lung to discuss cooperation between the two countries.

The Haitian Chancellor made his first visit to the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) in the afternoon. This was his first visit to Taiwan, arriving just as Typhoon Danas was making landfall on the island's west coast.

Taiwan and Haiti have maintained strong diplomatic relations for 69 years, marked by close collaboration in sustainable agriculture, public health, and other key areas. The meeting at the ICDF provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing cooperation and explore new avenues to deepen bilateral development efforts.

The Taiwan ICDF will continue to work hand in hand with Haiti to build a model of mutual benefit and shared prosperity!

During its stay, the Haitian delegation will also visit the Southern Science Park, Chimei Hospital, the National Palace Museum, and Taipei 101 Tower, and meet with Haitian scholarship recipients.
