On Friday, July 11, 2025, John Herrick Dessources, Minister of Tourism, held a meeting at the North Haiti Destination Management Organization with the Tourist Police (PoliTOUR) officers of Cap-Haïtien to present a new training program aimed at further professionalizing the institution.

This program is divided into two components.

The first component includes training in :

• First aid;

• Heritage protection (tourist sites);

• Rights and responsibilities of officers and visitors.

The second component includes :

• Language courses (English and Spanish);

• Gradual equipment provision;

• Distribution of new uniforms already available.

Minister Dessources emphasized the importance of a visible and strategic presence of PoliTOUR in key areas, including :

• At the Ministry's central office;

• At the airport;

• In the city of Cap-Haïtien.

He also emphasized the need for agents to embody integrity, respect, and professionalism in order to inspire trust among the public and visitors.

During the question-and-answer session, agents expressed several concerns, to which the Minister responded positively, affirming that their requests would be addressed.

In conclusion, Dessources reaffirmed that all the commitments made during this meeting will be implemented during the current fiscal year, and renewed his thanks and encouragement to all PoliTOUR agents.
